Government Solar Programs

There is a range of government programs available to help you get started on the path to a sustainable future. For customers interested in solar power the 2 main programs currently available include the federal government solar credits scheme and the Green Loans program

Green Loans

This is a Australian Government initiative to help Australians tackle climate change. The Green Loans program assists Australian families to install solar, water saving, and energy efficient products. The Green Loans program provides detailed, quality Home Sustainability Assessments and access to interest free Green Loans of up to $10,000 each to make the changes recommended in the assessment. The Home Sustainability Assessment has a nominal value of $250 but is free to the Household as it is fully subsidised by the Australian Government. Only those recommended actions from the report will be covered by the loan. No fee is paid by the Household to the Assessor for a Home Sustainability Assessment. All Assessors have gone through police checks and are issued with approved photo identification allowing your peace of mind when the Assessors come to your home. Solar Credit Scheme

The federal governments proposed Solar Credits Scheme is open to all Australian residents without the need for a previously required means test. This new incentive utilises the existing Renewable Energy Certificate system but includes a 5x multiplier to the number of REC's (or Solar Credits) for systems up to 1.5kW. If you were not previously eligible under the old $8,000 rebate scheme, you will now be eligible for incentives under this new scheme.

These Credits will assist with the upfront cost of installing roof top PV systems. Solar Credits will apply to new installations of household scale renewable energy generators eligible under the scheme.
