System Monitoring Options

The National Solar Schools Program is about more than just installing solar power. It’s linked to many other aspects of sustainability. Using less energy can only be a focus once we are educated about how much electricity we currently use. Recording the amount of energy your school consumes and comparing that over time, can greatly change the behaviour of staff and students. Once you start to compare this usage against the production of solar electricity from your solar power system, the educational benefits really start to arrive. Utilising your schools own energy data in the classroom has proven to be an invaluable tool for sustainable education.

As a mandatory part of the National Solar in Schools Program each installed solar system must comply with the program guidelines for data collection, storage and visualisation systems (DCSVS).

While energy production in a clean, sustainable and silent way is something we all want to achieve, the best kW/H is the one we never use. So turning off lights and computers + understanding the electricity generated Vs consumed can significantly impact behaviour and start to encourage real change at the individual level. Your schools can also get access to real time energy consumption data via your local Power Partner who has a range of technology
available that is approved by the National Solar in Schools guidelines.
