The solar regulator (also known as a solar controller) prevents overcharging which results in out-gassing of the batteries as well as keeping electrical storage in the batteries from discharging to the solar modules at night. Some models can also provide system monitoring for peace of mind, troubleshooting and to collect maintenance data for remote off-grid solar systems. Many of our solar regulators feature lightning surge protection, back up generator control and some models can charge a second battery.
